Data for federal fiscal year (FY) 2023 and subsequent years are not available for this section due to changes in data reporting. As of FY 2023, the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) Adoption file, which previously included both public and private adoptions and served as the data source for this section, is no longer produced. Consequently, this section now only includes data from FY 2019 through FY 2022. Please note that adoption-related data for FY 2023 and subsequent years, such as numbers related to permanency and exits from foster care, are derived from the AFCARS Foster Care file, which includes only public adoptions and does not provide the detailed characteristics previously available in the discontinued AFCARS Adoption file.
